How to Qualify For PBP 2019
To qualify for Paris Brest Paris 2019 is not as easy as you may think. Our qualification actually started last year when we completed a 600k BRM Brevet in Massemagrell, Valencia. There was a lot of talk online last year about preregistration, with the general opinion that at least a 400k BRM Brevet should be completed in the 2018 season to be able to preregister. Actually some who completed a 200k BRM Brevet did actually manage to preregister although by all accounts it was a mad scramble. With our 600k under our belts we were comfortable able to qualify in the second wave.
But the qualification process does not stop there as that is just the start!
‘Pre-qualifiers’ are not the same as qualifiers.
Whatever you’ve ridden in 2018 you still need to qualify for PBP by riding a Super Randonneur series of BRM rides (one each at a minimum of 200km, 300km, 400km, 600km) before the end of June 2019 (dates may vary from country to country). The dates for qualifying BRM events in the UK in 2019 are:
200km: Saturday 12th January – Sunday 28th April
300km: Saturday 16th March – Sunday 26th May
400km: Saturday 13th April – Sunday 2nd June
600km: Saturday 4th May – Sunday 23rd June
The registration period begins on 25 May 2019 and ends on 03 July 2019. Registrations can only be made through the PBP Web site with the homologation numbers of your qualifying brevets done between 31 October 2018 and 30 June 2019.
You can register before having completed the qualifying brevets, but you need to provide the missing brevet certification numbers on or before 03 July 2019 or your registration will be cancelled.
